It's My Birthday!

Yep, it's true - today is my fourth Birthday!

My best present is FINALLY being able to blog!

It's just been so busy around here, the river flooding (again), and Daddy's new job and Mommy being out of town visiting friends (and never taking me), that Mommy hasn't really had time to help me or the kitties much. So I'll be happy with this birthday blog (and what ever treats come with it)!

Hope all you pups are doing well, maybe part of my present will even be to get some time to visit!

I'm sorry to have been away friends, we've been so busy. First we had the tree in the yard, then the holidays - and to add insult to injury right after Mommy and Daddy got back we had a huge flood in our yard and basement (I had barely any room in my yard to do my bizness!). So they've all been working hard to get things cleaned up and get everything back to normal - and I've been bored.

Mommy said that she is going to do her best this week to help me catch up with all our friends - if she doesn't I might have to bite her (or at least stick my cold nose in her ear :-).

Nothing but good news here pups!

Mommy and Daddy got back late, late, late Friday night and I got sprung from "camp" first thing on Saturday morning. Mommy was so glad to see me that I got to go through the drive through at McDonalds (I got my own hash brown)!

Then when I got home I found out that there were presents for me from Santa Paws! Some are from my grandma in California, some are from the nice people at the spa, but I just know that Santa must have stopped by while I was gone to leave the rest.

Oh, and those biscuits up front? Those came in a package from my BFF Renna! They're yummy gingerbread flavor - thanks soooooo much Renna!

There is a bit of bad news:

Now my Mommy can give me a mani-pedi whenever she wants, but I'm thinking that I'm not so thrilled about this present. Clearly this present is from my Grandma, since Santa Paws wouldn't have left me that, right?

Whew - it sure has been busy around here, what with the tree falling down and then heading off to camp so that Mommy and Daddy could go home for the holidays!

Things were so busy that a few important tings got over looked - like a bunch of my DWB Holiday cards are still sitting on the table at home. Mommy was going to take them to the post office on the way to the airport, but she forgot! And she forgot to send my blankets with me when I went off to camp - I know I'll be fine without them, but sheesh!

One thing that didn't get overlooked is my Secret Paws package! The furry nice bunny Cadbury sent me these super great bouncy balls. They're a ton of fun and so far pretty darn durable, since I can be a bit hard on my toys :-) And Cadbury knows about chewing stuff, as all buns do!

First I have to inspect the package:

Then Mommy tosses me one and I go crazy!

And finally I settle down for a nice chew...

It would have been nice to take my new toys with me to camp, but I guess I;ll have something else to look forward to when I get home!

My Yard!

Hiya Pups!

Sorry to be away so long - Mommy's hands have been busy making and addressing all the holiday cards. There were cards for family, friends, kitty friends and of course all the DWB card exchange cards! Then of course all the running around getting ready for the holidays - she's been one busy Mommy.

So I was going to tell you all about how busy Mommy and Daddy have been, how I've been so ignored and how they are about to abandon me for a week to go home to California for the holidays. But then this happened!

The winds were soooooo crazy this morning that the tree BROKE! Now it may not look too bad in this picture, but get a load of this...

And the very, very worst part - look what happened to my fence!

My Daddy worked all afternoon to try and fix the fence as best as possible, but I still don't like what's happened to my yard. How am I supposed to patrol the perimeter if there isn't one!? And even worse, now there are going to be workers in my yard trying to fix this! Maybe it's not such a bad thing that I'm off to camp soon - I don't know if I can handle this.

Family Friday

I know most of you already know about my kitty siblings, so today I thought I'd introduce you to my Aire-family! These are my Mommy's "sisfurrs"!

This is Sassy, she's 12 years old and she's my Grandmommy's favorite Airedale ever! Trust me she is sassy, but she was named for her ginormous paws when she was a puppy. She's a big girl, she's really tall (almost 27" at the shoulder) and almost 70 pounds (don't tell her I told you that - she's way bigger than me and could beat me up, yikes).

And this is Sadie. She was in Airedale rescue and she came into our family when she was almost two and now she's 10. Sadie is originally from Kentucky and is almost as big as Sassy - so they've always played well together. Sadie recently had both of her hips "done" - she had hip dysplasia in both hips and had to have an operations to get her feeling better again (and get back to chasing squirrels).
Hope you enjoyed meeting more of my family!

Sad News

I'm sorry to have been gone so long - Mommy obviously has been bizzy doing her stuff and not helping me. But then we got bad news that has made us very sad.

Our sweet friend, Mr. Samwise, has passed away. We didn't even know that he was sick.

Mr. Samwise lived with his Mistress Winter in Mixlowe, United Kingdom and they recently went through some house renovations (my Mommy said that could stress a pup out a lot!). He loved to go for walks, even though his health meant that he had to take it slow. Mr. Samwise and his Mistress always had such kind words for us, so we only hope that we have been able to return the favor.

I'm sure that Mistress Winter would appreciate some kind words during this difficult time, if you could stop by her bloggie.

It's a good thing I like this Tuxie cat, 'cause he sure does hog up all the best sunny spots in the house!

And he hogs up all of my Mommy's time! He was out for hours and hours the other night, and Mommy was so worried that she didn't help me write on my bloggie or visit any of my friends. He's a pain in the tail I tell you!

Mommy promised that she'd help me visit this weekend - we'll see if that dang tuxie gets in the way, harumph!

New Bed!

I'm sooooooo excited! Mommy and Daddy got me a new bed!

As you can see, my old bed was, well - tatty would be the nicest thing I could say about it really. In any case, it was long overdue. I kept asking, but it took forever!

It turns out that it took so long, because Mommy and Daddy were "discussing" which type of bed to get. Mommy wanted something squishier, Daddy wanted something smaller - I just needed a new bed. I'm perfectly ok with the type of bed I have, it's just needs to be newer - and it is!

So I gave it a good sniff-over. Smelled really new, and maybe like some other dogs. Mommy put my blankets on it to try and make it smell a little better - I don't know if it's going to work.

Yep - it's not going to work, it smells like new toy, not new bed! So I had to play with it, shake it, and drag it about a bit.

Even Bert had to check out my new bed (he's always trying to sleep in my bed - like he needs such a big bed!).
Eventually I settled right down in it and it's been great!

Our Big Adventure!

I got to go on a really big adventure today! Mommy, Daddy and I went on a drive to look at the fall colors - and it was so much fun. It was my first adventure in the new car, so I had to sit on a cloth - Mommy and Daddy weren't ready to have all my fuzz on the seats (but I think I look pretty good on the orange fabric!).

It was great - I got to share some McDonald's breakfast. It's a special treat for all of us - Mommy and Daddy even had an extra hash brown to share. And even though it was a bit cool out, they let me have the windows down for a bit.

First we drove up the coast of Lake Huron, we started by stopping at a rest stop that had stairs down to the beach. So we stopped, and looked at all the lovely colors.

We had to go down lots and lots of stairs, but it was worth it once we got to the beach.

We looked at the lake and enjoy the blustery day.

We stopped at a neat-o harbor - only dogs weren't allowed, so I had to stay in the car while they walked down the pier. It was a really long pier, but they walked fast so I wouldn't be by myself too long.

Then we stopped at a lighthouse and we got to walk around and see all the sights - there was a huge park to play in. But Mommy went off to take a bunch of pictures, so I was really excited when I found her again!

It was a really long drive home, but we did stop at the apple orchard for cider and donuts - so that helped :-)

I sure hope we can go on another adventure again soon!

Also, Mommy and I really wanted to thank you for all your kind words about my Granddaddy. Mommy and Daddy got back from California just fine, and we're all still settling back in.

While they were away I got to stay with my friend Leo and his Mommy and Daddy and then I went to stay with my friend Sophie and her family (she lives on the beach so I got to play in the lake). I had a really great time, even though I missed them a lot. I wish I had pictures to show you, but we were so busy having a great time I forgot to remind anyone!

Oh, and I've had a talk with Mommy and she's promised to help me blog more, even though she's been really busy at work since she got back!

Mommy is Broken

Up Late

A lot of nights I like to settle down into my bed early. I can keep an eye on things from there, but usually I end up asleep way before Mommy and Daddy go to bed. But sometimes it's best to stay up late with your Mommy. I stayed up late and look what I got... Ice Cream!

And then, I got skritches in my very favorite spot!

Best Toy Ever!

This is my favorite toy - it's my basketball. All right, maybe not the best toy EVER, but it's definitely one of my all time favorites! I've had it for ages and ages (well since I was a year old anyway)!

I've tried a couple of different balls outside - there was a soccer ball (I ate the skin off of that one), and then there was the dodgeball (popped it in seconds), and of course there are all the tennis balls (those tend to get run over by the lawn mower). My Auntie Sadie loves to play with a football, so Mommy and Daddy looked for one but couldn't find one so they finally settled on a basketball. When they got the basketball they thought that it wouldn't work - since I couldn't really get my mouth around it.

But there are a couple of secret to it:
1. It's not a full sized basketball - it's a "girl's size", but since I'm a girl that's just fine right?!

2. Due to a lot of time outside and stuck in the snow last winter, it's lost some air.

3. My mouth has gotten bigger! Ha ha!

Long Time No Bark!

Hiya Pups!

I'm so sorry to have been gone so long. I'd like to say that we've been off being fabulously busy doing great stuff. Or I'd like to say that Mommy's been way too busy to help me, but that's not it either (not that she hasn't been busy). The true story is that I've been bored, we haven't done much lately - well until the weekend...

We got to go to the beach on Sunday! You should have seen it - sun and water, kids and all the pups! There was music and boats and all sorts of great stuff! And I met a couple of cool new friends to play with, they were with all my Mommy and Daddy's friends.

Here's Max! He's a Chihuahua - but he acts like he's as big as a Great Dane :-) Max didn't like me much even though I wanted to play. But by the end of the day we got along okay (though it's easy to get along when there's steak involved).

Sophie and I had to get some shade, since it was a little warm. It's nice of her Mom and Dad to put this umbrella up for all of us with a fur coat on! We all got into the lake a couple of times, so between the water and the shade we all kept pretty cool.

Next Maggie and her family arrived - she's a miniature Schnauzer, she was very nice. And guess what, she likes to go on the boat! See that funny orange jacket? It's a life vest so that just in case she falls out her Mom and Dad can grab her easily.

And then Maggie went swimming. I tried to go with her, but my tie-down wasn't long enough. The funny thing is that after Mommy saw this, she thought I might like to go for a swim - but I didn't (I don't really love to swim, but I don't mind getting in to cool off).

Here's me and my Daddy hanging out - at the end of the day. We had a really great day, in fact Daddy said I was a really great girl all day!

So he decided to let me off my line and here's what happened...

Ha ha - was that fun, I ran and ran! But there's good news, I came back!

'This is my Mommy's favorite picture of the day - look at how wet I got! Mommy is still brushing sand out of my furrs (I'm headed to the salon next week!).

It was a great day!

The Wrong Food!

I got a really cool treat today - instead of my normal crunchy food, I got this:

Kitty Crunchies!

So it was a cool treat, and I suppose that I should be excited that I got to eat the kitties crunchies without getting yelled at. But Pups, I have to tell you that it wasn't given to me as a treat. Mommy gave it to me because she had forgotten to buy my crunchies! That's right, she forgot that I was out of food and so she gave this to me instead.

I'm not sure how I feel about this - on the one paw, I'm so excited to have kitty crunchies in place of my normal crunchies. But on the other paw it means that Mommy wasn't paying attention to me or my needs!

So what do you think Pups, should I be mad at Mommy or not?

Home Early!

Both Mommy and Daddy came home from work early today - it was pawesome! We sat on the deck and then we all walked down to the river. We played ball (loved that) and keep-away (didn't love that as much). And I got to run around and sniff all the spots where all the other critters live.

It's been ages since we've all had time to walk together in the yard. Look how all the weeds have grown down my path to the river!

Oh, I found the smells of the fox or maybe the woodchuck - someone was here anyway!

I got to get right down on the bank. I almost got in, but Mommy and Daddy said no!

We played a bit of ball and I was such a good girl (I barely ran away at all). We even had time for some scritches under the willow tree.

It's been such a busy summer, so it was nice to take some time and hang out with the family!

Summer Fun

Mommy always says that Watermelon is the best part of summer. Mommy and Daddy eat it all summer long, Mommy makes sorbet with it and sometimes they grill it and have it for dinner with some grilled chicken - they love it that much.

One night when Mommy was cutting up a nice new melon I asked for some. She said she wasn't sure if I'd like it - and I said, "what are you crazy I'm an Airedale, of course I'll like it"!

So after she was all done cutting she took me out side, I'm still not sure why I had to go outside, but I didn't care if it meant that I got to try this stuff! Well she gave it to me and I took it and ran right down to my special spot (where I like to eat stuff), but then I was like - "what am I supposed to do with this"?!

Mommy said - "eat it silly", so I gave it another try and boy was it great!

So now I know that I really like Watermelon!

Violet for Violette

The other day PB&J took over the bloggie to tell you about the sad loss of little Violette Noelle. Well, sweet little Sprout is being laid to rest on Saturday and her Mommy has asked if everyone could ‘Wear Violet for Violette’. The kitties have turned their bloggie violet - Mommy can't figure out how to do that with my new design or I would too. On Saturday I'll be wearing my violet bandanna and the kitties will be wearing purple bows - all to support little Sprout's family.

If you can, please do the same. Sprout loved her kitty Monty and I'm sure she would have grown up to love all animals.

P.S. If any of you donated, you'll be pleased to know that we raised enough to send Violette's God Mother to the services as well as cover her hotel costs. Way to go every kitty, doggy and hammie!

Well, would you like to tell all my friends why you need to apologize to me?

No, Daddy and I are a bit embarrassed, so why don't you tell your friends and I'll go get some presents for you.

Ok - you guys aren't going to believe this. Mommy and Daddy FORGOT my Gotcha Day! Yesterday was my third Gotcha-day-aversary, a day that they should never really forget.

That's right, three years ago today Mommy, Daddy and my Grandpa came to the nice Lady's house (my breeder) and took me away to my forever home. I was one of the last ones to go - most of my brothers and sisters had gone the week before - so I was pretty excited. I got a whole house and yard to myself and my own Mommy and Daddy - it was a pawesome day!

The good news is that Mommy and Daddy made it up to me, I got a cool new toy, a bully stick and treats and then we went and hung out on the deck together while I sniffed the breezes!

We're Back!

Waa hoo - Mommy and Daddy are back from their trip, and I'm back from camp! This is the best part of coming home from camp is the ride home, I love sniffing all the air and knowing that we're getting close. Mommy worries about me hanging my head out too much, but I love it, so she lets me.

Oh I'm so glad to be back home - and the good news is Mommy says no more trips that she knows of (well, til the holidays anyway)! So hopefully that means just a nice relaxing summer and maybe a few trips to the beach, that's always fun.

Woo hoo! Mommy's home!

She got home late Sunday night, but we managed to play in the yard a bit Monday morning before she went to work - it sure was nice to see her. Not that I don't love my Daddy, but Mommy's are special.

So Mommy, what should we do all weekend and the rest of the summer? I've got a whole tin of tennis balls and a new frisbee to play with - where would you like to start?

I'm sorry Georgie, you've got to go back to camp again on the weekend. Daddy and I are going to Mackinac Island and we won't be able to take you with us. I have to go pick Daddy up after the race. This is the last trip for a good long while - and when we get back I promise that we'll go to the beach and visit Sophie.

Aw jeesh, back to camp?! Well, I guess it's not so bad, I do have fun there and it's not that long. But man are the kitties going to be hissed off!

Happy Independence Day everyone! I got out my spiffy bandanna for the fourth - it's always best to look good for holidays. I like this picture, since it doesn't show my bad haircut (though you can see that they cut my beard a bit too short - but Mommy says that's ok since I'm a big slobber-mouth) :-)
Mommy and Daddy we're just in Philadelphia, our nation's birthplace. They saw all sorts of cool stuff. The kitties posted a bunch of pictures from the trip - the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall - lots of cool places.

Oh, the kitties got their Swap 'n Tails - and there was something in it for me! Thank you so much Samantha and Mr. Tigger - the squeaker toy is sooo cool.

But there's a bit of bad news - Mommy is leaving us again! The good news is that Daddy is staying home and Mommy will only be gone for a few days, but jeesh it would be nice to spend a little time with us all together.

Super Tuesday

So today is a big day! I got two awards, my very first! This one is from my friends Maggie & Mitch I would like to pass this award on to Abby and Renna.

And this one is from of my first doggie friends and my bloggie inspiration, Renna the Renaissance Pup!
And I would pass this one on to the very handsome Beaux, the birthday girl and her brother Dana & Loki and the awesomest FrootBat Titus.

But the best part about today is that it's my friend Dana's 4th birthday today and she's having a party. There's gonna be playing and dancing and apparently there's gonna be a surprise (that sounds good). So everyone should stop on by!!!

They're Back!

Finally - Mommy and Daddy are back! They actually got back on Friday, but they've been really busy taking my Grandma all around town. But finally Mommy's got a bit of time to sit down and help me blog - wahoo!

My Grandma did bring me back a ton of cool stuff - she brought me a whole pack of squeeky toys and a cool rope ball (which I have mostly destroyed, and Mommy hasn't managed to get a picture of yet)!

I had a really fun time at camp, well until the bath and haircut part. And really, I don't mind the bath, but the lady there wasn't very good at cutting Airedale hair - Mommy says she's going to have to "clean me up" a little (I don't like the sounds of that). But they left my tail all floofy, so if that's what she's talking about then I guess I don't mind (I feel a bit silly with the wrong hair cut).

I spent the whole first night barking at every noise and kitty walking by - sometimes it takes a bit of time for me to settle down at home again. But now, I'm all settled back in and happy to be home with everyone!

I'll get started visiting everyone as soon as I can - and maybe I'll put up some of the pictures from Mommy and Daddy's trip.

Good News and Bad News

The good news is that it's my kitty friend Dante's Third Birthday party today - in fact he's having a super Pirate Party all day today! And what's even more exciting than that, is that I get to go to the party and I even have a date! Dante's handsome brother Beaux asked me to accompany him to the party and I'm so excited.

The bad news is that Mommy and Daddy are leaving for a vacation, so I'm going to be gone all next week. I guess it's not too bad since I get to go to the kennel - which is super fun, I get to play with all the pups there and they even have agility toys to play with.

There is another little bit of good news - when Mommy and Daddy come back they're going to have my Grandma with them, so I get to see her (and she always brings me cool treat)!

So I'll miss you guys - but I'll be back soon!

I Was Tricked!

Mommy said that she had a surprise for me when she got home. I was hoping for a new bone or maybe a walk. I was a little worried when she said Bert was going to get the surprise too - there aren't many things that we both like to do, except sleep. But how bad could a surprise be right?!

I found out that surprises can be not so great - it was a trip to the vet! I guess the good news is that they only took a little bit of my blood and I only got one shot - oh and I got a bunch of treats for being a good dog.

And I got lots of sympathy from Daddy when I got home cause of my green band-aid. So it's not all bad!

It's Almost Gone

I'm a little it sad - my birthday bone is almost gone.

As you can see, I've managed to chew the cool ends off. I have a plan for eating these big bones - you start with chewing on the end till it loosens up and then you chew it away. Next, repeat on the other end. Once you have the ends off you can just gnaw away till it's all gone!

The only problem is that eventually the bone is gone and you have to wait till the next big present day for a new one!

Finally Friday

Finally I get to open my present is more like it! There's been a box sitting on the kitchen counter since Monday night and Mommy hasn't been around to help me open it. I've never had my own mail before - oh sure, sometimes I get something when the kitties get a present, but this is the very first time something came addressed to me alone! It smelled so good sitting up there, and Mommy told me it was from my friend Renna, so of course I was very anxious to see what it was.

Here's the cool card - isn't Renna the cutest Princess Pup you've ever seen?! Oh it's a birthday present, how exciting.

And here's what was in it!

A big juicy Ham Bone - it was so great! I could barely contain myself, I kept pawing and jumping on Mommy as she opened the package for me (I could have done it myself, but she said no). It was so amazingly tasty, I chewed and chewed! Bert came over to see what I had, and I wouldn't let him see - I got mad and took my bone to the corner where he couldn't steal it.

A while later Mommy got up to take the bone away, she said it's not good to have too much of a special treat all at once (see if she says that if I tried to take away her Ben and Jerry's!). But all she saw was a few last bits of bone, so she looked all over till she realized that I had eaten the entire thing in the span of only a few hours (I'm what the vet calls and "aggressive chewer")!

Even though I didn't make it last, I sure did enjoy it!!! Thank you sooooo much Renna, it was an awesome birthday surprise!

On a sad note, one of the kitties' friends is being helped over the bridge today, I'm sure Storm and her family would appreciate any good thoughts, woofs or puppy kisses.

Whada Ya Think?

Sorry that I haven't been around much! Mommy and Daddy finally finished babysitting the young sticky ones and Sophie - so now they are home and maybe things will get back to normal and Mommy can sit down and help me visit all my friends.

In the mean time, she changed my bloggie's look! I've put a poll up - so you all can vote and tell me to keep it or not!

My Friend Sophie

This is my friend Sophie (she looks kinda like my new friend Luc).

She's the very first big dog I ever met (well, except for all the dogs at the place that I was born)! She's soo cool, I really like her a lot - when I was little I used to run all around her and try to bite her fuzzy ears. I usually see her ever weekend, but since Mommy and Daddy have been taking care of her this week I've gotten to see her lots.

Sophie loves to come over to my house - she loves to chase the kitties. And sometimes she even goes into the basement and snacks in the kitties' litter box!

She doesn't always like to play with me 'cause she's like a squillion years old (oh, wait Mom says she's 14) and doesn't feel like playing. But that's ok, she's still my good friend.

It's Not My Fault!

Oh boy are the kitties in trouble! Mommy and Daddy have been away for a while (they've just been living down the street taking care of their friend's kids) - and it's been kind of rough without them. But the kitties were so hissed off that they threw a "Trash the House Party" and just look what all thier friends did!

I swear I had (almost) nothing to do with this Mommy!

Oh that, no that was all the kitties, I didn't do that!

Wow - I couldn't have asked for a better birthday! It was an awesome surprise party, and thanks to all my kitty and doggy friends that came by to visit! And how cool is it that I share a birthday with Miss Blue Eyes, one of the most beautiful kitties in the blogosphere!

And then, if that weren't enough Mommy and Daddy got me all these great things! I got new tennis balls, a frisbee, a new tuggy toy and a really big bone! And they even let me clean the plates after dinner (including the ice cream bowl)!

Wow - I should turn three more often!

Also, Asta's Daddi is sick and he needs our hugs and good wishes!

What a Party!

I've always visited Asta's bloggie, and seen all the fabulous trips she goes on. And then she invited me to Putter and Willow's Birthday Party, I was so excited!

And now that I've been to my very first big party - I can say that it was PAWESOME! The party was in Australia, and Aire Ruby picked us all up and then we toured all the site! It was amazing! Look here I am with everyone at Leuwa Cascade (thanks to Asta for the photo).

So now I'm going to catch up on my sleep!

Whew - it sure is peaceful here without all those kitties!

My First Woofs!

Hi everybody! My name is George, and this is my very first blog post (well, on my own blog anyway)!

My kitty brothers and sister sometimes let me post on their bloggie, but I never got enough time, 'cause they were always talking to their kitty friends. So then a puppy friend of mine got her own bloggie and so kept begging and begging my Mommy - and she finally said YES!!! So here I am.

But now what do I talk about? Hmmm, I guess I'll have to think on that.
